Under close supervision, performs a variety of basic office and field technical engineering tasks related to construction plan review, construction inspecting, field laboratory material testing and assisting the public. How does it get done? Gather basic data, perform basic data entry into existing data base, and basic customer interaction primarily in the field. Perform basic field inspections including field sampling and material testing as needed. Who are the customers? Construction project personnel and traveling public to ensure roads are safe for travel. Ideal Candidate Construction project personnel and traveling public to ensure roads are safe for travel. Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent. Employment Requirements Successful completion of pre-employment physical. Must be able to obtain TTCP certifications. Must maintain a valid Driver's License. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in the field in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow.

May include exposure to:

Sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects and reptiles, noxious plants and infected trash, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals. High speed/high volume traffic and loud noises, confined spaces; Falls and bruises, considerable physical strain; Standing for extended periods of time doing traffic control or walking long distances; Hand dexterity required for some duties; numerous specific vision abilities to include: close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; some climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling to perform job duties; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work may also be performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage to include working with faxes, copiers and printers. May be required to work irregular hours and is subject to call outs for emergencies. Willingness to accept change of geographical assignments. Interaction with the public by phone and in person. Frequent temporary assignments that require travel and extended overnight stays to include weekends, holidays, and overtime are required.
