Job Description

Marine Mechanic / Service Technician McLaughlin's RV & Marine McLaughlin's RV & Marine is looking for a mechanically capable, dependable technician to join our marine service team. Marine experience is not required. We are interested in applicants with experience working on cars, trucks, small engines, powersports, farm equipment, construction equipment, boats, or similar mechanical equipment. If you are comfortable using tools, diagnosing mechanical problems, and figuring out how things work, we can train you on the marine-specific aspects of the job. What You'll Work On Most of our engine work is on Yamaha outboards , along with some Ford and GM V8 engines used in fiberglass boats.
Typical work includes:
Diagnose, maintain, and repair engines and related mechanical systems. Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filters, spark plugs, impellers, and winterization. Diagnose starting, running, fuel, cooling, charging, steering, and control problems. Troubleshoot and repair common boat electrical and accessory issues. Install or repair components such as batteries, switches, gauges, pumps, lights, stereos, and other accessories. Diagnose and repair boat trailers, including bearings, brakes, lights, tires, and couplers. Prepare boats for customer delivery and verify proper operation. Water-test boats when needed to diagnose or confirm repairs. Accurately document completed work and needed repairs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Who We're Looking For We are primarily looking for mechanical ability, dependability, and a willingness to learn. Experience in any of the following is helpful: Automotive repair Small-engine repair Powersports Agricultural or equipment repair Marine service Other hands-on mechanical work You do not need previous marine experience or manufacturer certifications. Experience with electrical diagnosis is helpful but not required. We will train the right mechanically capable person on marine systems, including the electrical and accessory work commonly found in boats. Applicants should be comfortable using hand and power tools, following service procedures, learning new systems, and working through mechanical problems methodically. A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required. Physical Requirements This is a hands-on technician position. Applicants must be able to lift approximately 50 pounds, work on and inside boats, bend and kneel as necessary, and work both indoors and outdoors.
