By joining our Project Delivery and Preservation Branch II as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Harlan County; you'll have the opportunity to perform a variety of general labor functions and operate basic automotive and power equipment such as, but not limited to, bushhogs, chainsaws, chemical sprayers, chippers, jackhammers, mowing tractors, single axle truck (dump, flatbed, pickup), snowplow and salt spreader, broom sweepers and weed trimmers. Holders of the Highway Technician Assistant I position will complete tasks such as: Operate dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader during Snow and Ice season. Operate a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting, and use chemical sprayers Flag for operations requiring traffic control. Learn and assist with basic surveying activities on construction projects, maintenance and repair of roadways. Attend required training classes Ideal Candidate will have experience in: Experience working on rough terrain and in changing climates Basic maintenance or construction experience Eligibility to obtain a Commercial Driver's License Basic equipment operating experience

(AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
