Job Description

Job Title:
Manual Machinist Job Description This role focuses on operating and maintaining manual machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses to produce high-quality parts to precise specifications. You will use your knowledge of machining techniques, blueprints, and precision measuring tools to set up equipment, perform accurate machining operations, and ensure all components meet required tolerances and quality standards. Responsibilities Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders to produce parts to specified dimensions and tolerances. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements and sequence of operations. Measure and inspect in-process and finished products using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify accuracy. Perform routine maintenance on manual machines and tools to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime. Assist with general fabrication tasks, including working with press brakes and sheet metal when needed. Essential Skills At least 2 years of hands-on manual machining experience, including work with manual mills and manual lathes. Proficiency in setting up and operating manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and drill presses. Strong shop math skills, including the ability to calculate dimensions, tolerances, and fits. Demonstrated ability to understand and work within specified tolerances and geometric requirements. Proficient use of precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with manual CNC operations or familiarity with transitioning between manual and CNC processes. Experience working with fabrication equipment such as brakes and related shop tools. Comfort working in a growing manufacturing environment with evolving processes and equipment. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a well-organized manufacturing shop where each work area provides ample space and a clean, professional environment. The facility features relatively new equipment, including a modern 225-ton Bystronic press brake, and the organization is planning to move into a new building as part of its growth and ongoing improvement in national sales. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of North Branch, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
