Job Title:
Cabinet Maker/Shop Foreman Job Summary:
Oxford Design is a custom cabinet and furniture business on the west side of Santa Cruz. We are seeking a skilled Cabinet Maker to join our small team in our 2200sf shop. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a cabinet shop. We are looking for a full time position at a rate of $28-38/hr depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and assemble high-quality custom cabinets, furniture, and architectural millwork from raw materials to finished products. Mill rough lumber and execute precise cuts using standard woodworking machinery and hand tools. Interpret architectural drawings, shop plans, and custom specifications to deliver exact measurements. Occasionally assist with on-site residential and commercial installations, ensuring seamless fit and finish. Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace while maintaining tools and equipment.
Qualifications:
3+ years of professional woodworking or cabinet making experience (custom shop experience preferred). Strong knowledge of wood species, plywood, hardware systems, and woodworking techniques. Proficiency in reading technical blueprints, architectural plans, and cut sheets. Advanced skills with hand tools, power tools, and stationary shop machinery. Basic math and spatial geometry skills for accurate measuring and material optimization. High attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal training in carpentry or cabinetmaking. Experience with residential projects Knowledge of cabinetry software or CAD tools is a plus. Valid drivers license Experience driving trailers
Work Conditions:
Job sites may vary and include new construction or renovation projects. Work involves lifting, standing for extended periods, and using power tools.
Pay:
$28.00 - $38.00 per hour
