PDS Tech Job Title:
Chemical Processing Lead /
Plating Lead Location:
Fullerton, CA 92831
Position Type:
Contract-to-Hire Shift:
2nd Shift | Monday - Friday | 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM (10-Hour Shifts) Optional overtime: Up to 5 hours on Saturdays (non-mandatory)
Pay Rate:
$29.00 / hour + 12% Night Shift Premium (
Effective Rate:
~$32.48 / hour) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Chemical Processing Lead to oversee 2nd shift wet processing, chemical line operations, and metal finishing activities. This role combines hands-on plating/surface treatment expertise with operational leadership—guiding team operators, maintaining quality standards, and assisting with Nadcap audit preparedness.
Key Responsibilities Shift Leadership:
Guide daily workflow, assist operators with processing activities, enforce EHS safety protocols, and train team members on part-washing and blasting lines.
Chemical & Wet Processing:
Perform and oversee surface treatment operations including Alkaline Cleaning, Passivation, Hot Molten Salt, Conversion Coatings, Chromate, Dyes, Dry Film, and chemical coating stripping.
Surface Prep & Blasting:
Conduct and oversee mechanical surface preparation, including sandblasting, glass beading, and part washing machine operation and troubleshooting.
Quality & Compliance:
Inspect components to ensure adherence to customer blueprints and product specifications. Perform Water Break Free testing and assist in Nadcap audit preparation.
Production & Maintenance Tracking:
Prepare daily production reports, verify job lot flow paperwork, monitor tank solution levels, and maintain line housekeeping standards.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical Expertise:
Demonstrated background in wet process chemical operations, general plating skills equivalent to Plating Tech I / II, and knowledge of manufacturing quality processes.
Blueprint & Spec Reading:
Ability to read and interpret technical product specifications, engineering blueprints, work instructions, and procedures.
Leadership & Communication:
Solid interpersonal skills with a proven track record of leading teams, training operators, and resolving workflow bottlenecks.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis; comfortable working in an active chemical/plating production environment.
Computer Skills:
Basic computer proficiency for production tracking and logging. Pay Details:
