Job Summary:

Solvent Extraction Team Lead oversees the safe and efficient operation of our solvent extraction (SX) processing line. This position combines strong technical expertise in solvent extraction with practical operational experience, providing leadership to a team of plant operators while ensuring process performance, safety, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a hands-on hydrometallurgist who has personally operated solvent extraction systems in laboratory, pilot plant, and commercial environments. They have successfully taken solvent extraction processes from laboratory development through pilot-scale validation and into commercial production, understanding the challenges at each stage of scale-up. Experience in rare earth hydrometallurgy and solvent extraction is strongly preferred. Due to grant requirements, US Citizenship is required. Essential Job Functions and Duties Lead the day-to-day operation of the solvent extraction plant, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient production. Apply laboratory and pilot plant knowledge to successfully operate and optimize a commercial-scale solvent extraction circuit. Provide technical leadership during process scale-up, commissioning, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor solvent extraction circuit performance, troubleshoot process upsets, and optimize operating parameters. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), operating instructions, and training materials. Monitor process data and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for process improvement. Maintain accurate operating records and prepare required reports. Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate with team members. Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence. Adheres to internal and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures. Potential future growth to supervise, train, and mentor a team of plant operators, establishing clear operating expectations and promoting a strong safety culture.

Job Qualifications:

Experience and Education Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience. At least 3 years of hands-on experience in the chemical industry. Additional experience in geology, metallurgy, hydrometallurgy would be beneficial. Experienced in hands-on hydrometallurgical solvent extraction (SX) or liquid-liquid extraction processes. Demonstrated experience working across laboratory, pilot plant, and commercial processing environments. Proven ability to scale solvent extraction processes from bench or laboratory testing through pilot plant operation and into commercial production. Strong understanding of solvent extraction chemistry, process control, and troubleshooting. Practical experience operating, commissioning, and optimizing solvent extraction circuits.
