Job Description

Overview Unite Contracting is seeking a highly skilled CNC Plasma Cutter Operator to join our manufacturing team. This is a permanent position with Benefits. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and programming CNC (Computer Numerical Control) plasma cutting machines to precisely cut metal components according to detailed technical drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in CNC programming and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming, and a thorough understanding of blueprint reading and quality control standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to precision fabrication processes within a dynamic manufacturing environment committed to safety, efficiency, and excellence. Duties Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines, ensuring accurate execution of cutting programs based on technical drawings and production documents. Interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications to determine proper machine settings and tooling requirements. Program CNC plasma cutters using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) files, CAM software, and Fanuc or similar control systems. Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of CNC plasma equipment to ensure optimal performance. Measure finished components using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy in accordance with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Maintain compliance with safety standards by adhering to proper procedures for handling industrial equipment and materials. Collaborate with team members on fabrication projects involving CNC milling machines, press brakes, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and other manufacturing machinery. Assist in quality control activities by inspecting parts for defects or deviations from specifications. Acccurately interpret manufacturing documentation for efficient workflow management. Support continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements related to machine operation and tooling. Requirements Proven experience operating CNC plasma cutters within a manufacturing or fabrication setting. Proficiency with CNC programming languages and CAM software; experience with Fanuc controls is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and technical drawing analysis. Familiarity with shop math, precision measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers), GD&T principles, and quality control procedures. Mechanical aptitude with understanding of industrial equipment troubleshooting and basic machine maintenance. Experience working with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar design tools is advantageous. Ability to interpret production documents accurately and follow detailed instructions precisely. Knowledge of safety standards applicable in manufacturing facilities involving heavy machinery and industrial equipment. Valid forklift certification or experience operating forklifts is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
