Job Description
CNC Router / Laser Operator Company Overview Pierce Aluminum is a leading aluminum service center supporting the high tech, marine, transportation, manufacturing, and aerospace industries. Position Summary The CNC Router / Laser Operator is responsible for safely and accurately processing aluminum using CNC routing and laser‑cutting equipment. This role supports daily production by ensuring high‑quality output, efficient workflow, and adherence to Pierce Aluminum's standards for safety, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, and monitor CNC router and laser‑cutting machines to process aluminum plate, sheet, and specialty materials according to work orders and specifications. Load, align, and secure materials; select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and cutting programs based on job requirements. Interpret blueprints, CAD files, and technical drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements. Adjust machine settings—including speeds, feeds, focal points, and toolpaths—to optimize cut quality and throughput. Inspect in‑process and finished parts using calipers, tape measures, and other precision tools to verify accuracy and quality. Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning lenses, checking filters, and monitoring coolant and vacuum systems. Maintain accurate documentation for job travelers, program files, revision control, and production reporting. Follow all safety procedures related to laser operation, material handling, and shop equipment. Assist with general warehouse and production tasks, including material prep, deburring, packaging, and staging. Support a clean, organized, and efficient work environment consistent with Pierce Aluminum's operational standards. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Prior experience operating CNC routers, lasers, or similar automated machinery preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documents. Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining processes. Excellent attention to detail, time management, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
