Job Description

About Gravity Manufacturing Gravity Manufacturing is a growing manufacturer in Pittsburg, Missouri, serving the energy industry and preparing for future aerospace work. We continue to invest in our employees, advanced CNC equipment, robotics, and practical process improvements. We value people who take ownership of quality, keep learning, and care for the equipment and team around them. Position Summary Gravity Manufacturing is hiring a CNC Setup Operator III to complete setups and changeovers, establish repeatable production, and support operators on the floor. This role is for a machinist who can take an approved job from setup preparation through first-piece submission and a clear production handoff. You will work under a Shift Supervisor and perform full CNC setups across equipment for which you are qualified, including 2-axis turning, 3-axis milling, and more complex machining as your demonstrated experience allows. Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare setups by reviewing drawings and revisions, approved programs, material and lot information, tooling, workholding, gauges, and inspection requirements.
  • Perform complete CNC setups and changeovers. Install and verify approved jaws, fixtures, tools, tool geometry, and work offsets.
  • Follow controlled setup verification and prove-out procedures. Confirm loading, clearances, machine settings, and part measurements before requesting production approval.
  • Inspect the first piece, document results, and obtain approval from the Shift Supervisor or authorized qualified backup before normal production.
  • Hand off a stable process with clear loading instructions, inspection intervals, tool-life requirements, and any restrictions or follow-up items.
  • Start and prove out approved robot-cell configurations when qualified. Verify table readiness and loading, and resolve only issues within your technical scope.
  • Run assigned production, support setup-related troubleshooting, and teach operators tasks you are qualified to perform.
  • Reduce avoidable changeover delays through preparation. Maintain material traceability, MRP records, machine care, and detailed handoffs when a setup continues into the next shift. Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to complete full CNC setups and changeovers independently on equipment within your experience.
  • Working knowledge of CNC turning and milling, tooling, jaws, fixtures, work offsets, and safe process verification.
  • Ability to read prints, understand tolerances, and perform accurate inspections with precision measurement equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot setup, tooling, loading, and dimensional problems and recognize when additional technical review is needed.
  • Clear communication and the ability to leave a repeatable process that another operator can follow. Preferred Qualifications
  • Okuma mill, lathe, or Multus experience; OSP P200, P300, or P500 controls.
  • Experience with multi-axis equipment, automated cells, soft jaws, or setup-time improvement. Schedule
  • Night shift: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 p.m
  • 3:00 a.m. Shift differential bonus
  • Four 10-hour shifts; full-time, in-person work in Pittsburg, Missouri.
  • Overtime may be available based on production needs and management approval. Why Join Gravity Manufacturing?
  • Health insurance, life insurance, and paid time off.
  • 401(k) with matching.
  • Professional development assistance and practical technical training.
  • Access to advanced CNC equipment, robotics, and manufacturing technology.
  • Semiannual performance reviews and skill-based advancement opportunities.
Development Opportunities Grow into advanced troubleshooting and training at Level IV. Qualified Level III operators may also be considered for a separate Shift Supervisor assignment as opportunities arise.
