Apply directly through hireCNC Why This Role Exists This role exists to support ongoing machining demand for large-diameter, heavy-duty components requiring precision turning and experienced setup capability. The Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL) Machinist plays a critical role in safely handling large castings and forgings while maintaining tight tolerances and production efficiency. This is not an entry-level turning role - it's for a machinist comfortable with large-scale work and complex setups. The Work You'll Be Doing In this role, you will: Perform full setups and operate CNC Vertical Turret Lathes (VTL) Load and secure large castings and forgings using overhead cranes and rigging equipment Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T Verify dimensions using large-scale precision inspection tools Select carbide tooling appropriate for heavy-duty turning Monitor tool wear and adjust offsets as needed Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specification Maintain a safe and organized work area This position requires confidence working with large workpieces and maintaining dimensional accuracy on heavy components.
