Job Description

CNC Laser Setup/Operator Position Type:
Temp-to-Perm (direct hire) Position Overview Seeking an experienced CNC Laser Setup Operator for a fast-paced sheet metal manufacturing environment in Yorktown, VA. This position requires hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC CO2 and/or fiber lasers used to cut light-gauge sheet metal. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC CO2 and fiber laser equipment for production and short-run work. Retrieve programs, complete machine setups, and perform changeovers. Set up assist gases, nozzles, lenses, and other laser components. Read and work from blueprints, drawings, work orders, and production documentation. Edit G-code and make machine adjustments as needed. Monitor cutting performance and material-loading automation. Inspect completed parts using calipers and other precision measuring tools. Perform basic preventive maintenance, cleaning, lens maintenance, and troubleshooting. Move raw materials and finished parts using forklifts and pallet jacks. Maintain production quality, efficiency, and a clean, safe work area. Qualifications Previous CNC laser setup and operating experience with light-gauge sheet metal required. CO2 and/or fiber laser experience required. Sheet metal job shop or contract manufacturing experience required. Experience with Amada and/or Mazak CNC laser equipment strongly preferred. Knowledge of assist gases, nozzles, lenses, and laser machine adjustments. Ability to read blueprints and interpret production documentation. Experience editing G-code. Material-loading automation experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting/light maintenance skills. Forklift and pallet jack experience preferred. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and remain active throughout the shift. Strong attendance and reliability.
