The CNC Programmer / Machinist is responsible for creating programming, setting up, and operating CNC machining equipment to produce complex precision components that meet customer specifications and quality requirements. This position requires advanced machining knowledge, strong blueprint interpretation skills, and the ability to independently perform setups, machine adjustments, inspections, and program modifications. The role includes operating multi-axis CNC lathes with dual turrets, dual spindles, and live tooling; modifying existing CNC programs; selecting tooling and work holding; and machining parts to tight tolerances. The CNC Programmer / Machinist also provides programming support to production and works closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to resolve machining or process issues and maintain efficient manufacturing operations.

Monday-Friday, First Shift (must be willing to work additional hours as needed) Essential Duties & Responsibilities Create, modify and update existing CNC programs to maintain quality, accuracy, and production efficiency. Set up and operate CNC horizontal lathes, including multi-axis, dual-turret, dual-spindle, and live-tooling equipment. Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, jaws, offsets, work holding, and necessary adjustments. Machine complex components to print specifications and tight tolerances, including tolerances of ±0.0005" when required. Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, setup sheets, work orders, drawings, and work instructions Provide programming and troubleshooting support to production to resolve machining issues promptly. Inspect completed parts using CMM equipment, micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools. Select appropriate cutting tools and prepare or bore lathe jaws as required. Support frequent machine changeovers and production scheduling requirements. Maintain accurate manufacturing, setup, and programming documentation. Work with Engineering, Quality, and Production personnel to resolve process, programming, and quality concerns. Maintain and support applicable AS9100 standards and machine shop procedures. Provide production status updates and documentation to leadership as needed. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas. Follow all company safety procedures when operating machinery and handling or moving materials. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience Creating, modifying or editing CNC programs preferred. Minimum of 5 years of machining experience preferred. Strong knowledge of turning, milling, drilling, tapping, live tooling, dual-turret, and dual-spindle CNC machining. Strong CNC machine setup and changeover experience. Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T. Strong knowledge of machining tolerances and precision inspection methods. Experience using micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM equipment, and other precision measuring tools. Understanding fixture design, cutting-tool selection, and lathe jaw preparation. Ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues independently. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet production deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Experience with 3D CAD modeling and importing/exporting models is preferred. Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to producing quality work. Pay Transparency Statement The pay range listed for this position reflects the base wage and is provided in compliance with Illinois law. Placement within the range is based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. Incentive and bonus eligibility, if applicable, are separate and based on performance and company criteria.

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
