Wabtec is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to support manufacturing operations by developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for production equipment. This role requires expertise in CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, blueprint interpretation, and machining processes. Job Duties Program CNC machines using 3D models, engineering drawings, and CAM software. Develop efficient multi-operation machining programs. Calculate machining speeds, feeds, tooling requirements, and material considerations. Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation. Create and maintain manufacturing documentation and work instructions. Assist with tooling selection, process planning, and procurement activities. Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production issues. Inspect finished parts to ensure quality and dimensional requirements are met. Support production schedules and manufacturing goals. Collaborate with machine operators to improve process consistency and quality. Operate CNC equipment as needed to support production demands. Assist with machine maintenance and continuous improvement projects. Maintain accurate production, labor, and material usage records. Support safety, quality, delivery, cost, and teamwork objectives. Participate in training, meetings, and other assigned duties. Qualifications 1-3 years of CNC programming experience or 5+ years of machining experience. High school diploma, GED, or trade school certification. Experience with CAD/CAM software preferred. Working knowledge of G-code and M-code programming. CNC milling programming experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is a plus. Willingness to work flexible schedules and additional hours as needed. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with CNC mills, lathes, machining centers, or multi-axis equipment is preferred. Experience editing CNC programs, setting tooling offsets, and performing machine setups is beneficial. Familiarity with G-code, CAD/CAM software, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Fanuc, or similar CNC controls is considered an asset. Individuals who demonstrate strong troubleshooting abilities, continuous learning, and commitment to precision manufacturing are well positioned for success as a CNC Programmer. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work around machining equipment throughout the shift. Ability to lift materials, tooling, and components weighing up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity to safely operate CNC machinery and precision measuring equipment. Ability to work safely around moving machinery while following established safety procedures.
