CNC Router Operator & Programmer

Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CNC Router Operator & Programmer to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for taking projects from digital design files through toolpath generation, machine setup, cutting, and quality control. You will work with wood using CNC routers. If you have a strong eye for quality, a solid understanding of machining feeds and speeds, and hands-on programming experience, we want to hear from you.

CNC Router Operator & Programmer:

Set up, calibrate, and operate 3-axis CNC routers safely and efficiently. Import CAD files (DXF, DWG, STEP) into CAM software to create, edit, and optimize G-code and toolpaths. Load materials onto the vacuum table/fixtures, apply proper hold-down techniques, and select appropriate tooling/cutters. Perform first-article and in-process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and measuring tools to ensure parts meet precise tolerances. Monitor cuts in real-time, adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling to optimize cycle times and prevent material waste. Perform routine daily/weekly preventive maintenance on equipment (vacuum pumps, dust collection, spindle lubrication, bit sharpening). Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment adhering to company safety standards and OSHA guidelines.

Skills and Experience:

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent trade school certification. 2+ years of experience operating 3-axis CNC routers in a production environment. 1+ years of experience programming toolpaths using CAM software (e.g., Vectric VCarve/Aspire, Fusion 360, Mastercam, Alphacam, or EnRoute). Strong understanding of G-code, tool selection, feeds/speeds, and material hold-down methods. Ability to read and interpret blue prints, technical drawings, and specifications. Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, height gauges, micrometers). Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and safely handle heavy sheet materials. Preferred Candidate:

Experience running nested sheet layouts for cabinet, sign, or display fabrication. Knowledge of CAD design software (Rhino, SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Experience operating edgebanders, panel saws, or manual woodworking/metalworking machinery.
