Position Summary The Paint Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining the paint production process to ensure First-Time Yield (FTY), equipment uptime, paint efficiency, product quality, and production performance . This position plays a critical role in maintaining paint systems, robotic equipment, production processes, and material controls while minimizing downtime, paint consumption, and waste. The Paint Technician works closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to troubleshoot issues and maintain consistent paint application and product quality. The Paint Technician manages production inputs, including production schedules, job instructions, job jackets, and document control sheets , and provides technical support to ensure production requirements are consistently met. Reports To Paint Process Engineer Key Responsibilities Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas by removing debris, trash, tags, and other materials and maintaining good housekeeping standards. Monitor departmental goals, objectives, and key performance indicators. Ensure production machinery, robotic systems, and paint equipment are operating properly and efficiently. Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for paint and production equipment. Identify, order, and replace required parts, supplies, and consumables. Assist with tooling design, modifications, and process improvements. Participate in weekly production, product launch, and continuous improvement meetings. Promote and enforce plant safety policies, safe work practices, and proper housekeeping standards. Troubleshoot equipment, paint systems, process, and production-quality issues. Maintain accurate records, reports, logs, and required production documentation. Identify opportunities to reduce material consumption, labor costs, paint usage, and waste. Maintain accurate inventory levels of paint, chemicals, parts, and supplies. Develop, modify, maintain, and back up robotic paint programs. Test and evaluate new equipment, paint materials, and process changes. Monitor portable containers to ensure proper labeling and required hazard warnings. Perform robot job changes and paint changes to support production requirements. Mix paint and monitor paint and catalyst levels to maintain proper process conditions. Complete daily production and process logs and maintain required paperwork. Perform troubleshooting, system checks, and routine process inspections. Monitor and maintain proper fluid flow, paint temperature, and paint viscosity. Monitor, maintain, and organize the paint kitchen and associated equipment. Perform hand spraying of parts when required to support production. Assist with equipment repairs, adjustments, and corrective maintenance as needed. Monitor finished and in-process parts for paint and overall quality requirements. Inspect, replace, and maintain paint system filters. Rebuild paint guns, clean fluid nozzles, and replace paint and air lines as required. Maintain paint application equipment to ensure proper operation and consistent paint quality. Manage the proper handling, storage, and labeling of hazardous materials in accordance with plant requirements and applicable safety procedures. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving first-time yield, uptime, quality, safety, paint utilization, and overall process efficiency . Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to identify and resolve recurring process and equipment issues. Support new product launches, process changes, equipment installations, and production trials as required.
