First Shift Monday through Friday 7:00 AM until production is complete Typical finish time is approximately 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM Mandatory overtime may be required based on production needs Occasional Saturday work may be required A Confidential Company in Burlington, NC is seeking an experienced Lead Powder Coater / Powder Coat Line Lead to take ownership of the daily operation of its powder coating line. This is a hands on working lead position for an experienced powder coating professional who can produce high quality finishes while also organizing workflow, setting production priorities, guiding employees, troubleshooting coating issues, and keeping the department operating safely and efficiently. This position requires someone who can serve as the go to person on the powder coating line . You will work directly alongside the production team while helping ensure jobs are completed according to customer specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. This is not a training opportunity . Candidates must already have substantial hands on industrial powder coating experience and be capable of contributing immediately.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the daily operation of the powder coating line and help organize work assignments and production priorities Prepare, mix, and apply powder coatings using industrial spray equipment and specialized tools Set up, operate, and monitor powder coating spray guns, booths, ovens, and related line equipment Inspect coated parts for proper coverage, thickness, adhesion, color, consistency, and overall finish quality Recognize powder coating defects and make appropriate process adjustments to maintain quality standards Troubleshoot coating defects, equipment issues, application problems, curing concerns, and other process interruptions Coordinate daily and weekly production runs according to color changes, customer priorities, job requirements, and production demands Coordinate color changes and line changeovers while reducing contamination, material waste, and unnecessary downtime Provide hands on direction, training, and support to powder coat helpers and other employees assigned to the line Ensure team members understand job specifications, masking requirements, color requirements, and finish expectations Monitor line productivity and communicate material, equipment, staffing, or quality concerns to management before they affect production Maintain an organized, efficient, and safe powder coating department Help ensure compliance with PPE requirements, housekeeping standards, safety procedures, and standard work practices Maintain awareness of powder, masking materials, filters, hooks, and other supplies required by the department Assist with basic equipment adjustments, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting as needed

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of hands on industrial powder coating experience in a manufacturing environment required Strong knowledge of powder coating materials, surface preparation, application techniques, film build, and curing processes Strong knowledge of common powder coating defects and the ability to identify and correct coating problems Demonstrated ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot powder coating spray equipment, booths, ovens, and related machinery Ability to inspect coated parts for proper coverage, thickness, adhesion, color, and overall finish Ability to make timely process corrections when quality issues are identified Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high quality finished products Ability to work hands on alongside the production team while balancing leadership responsibilities Strong understanding of manufacturing safety procedures and powder coating safety practices Strong organizational and problem solving skills Ability to prioritize multiple jobs and respond effectively to changing production demands Ability to communicate clearly with employees and production leadership Ability to hold team members accountable for quality, productivity, safety, and work expectations Previous experience leading, training, or directing employees in a powder coating or manufacturing environment strongly preferred Experience coating fabricated metal parts strongly preferred Experience working with multiple colors, finishes, and customer specifications strongly preferred Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic equipment adjustments, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance preferred

IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

ONLY candidates with relevant industrial powder coating experience will be considered. This position requires a minimum of 3 years of hands on industrial powder coating experience in a manufacturing environment . This is NOT an entry level position and is NOT a training opportunity. Candidates without qualifying industrial powder coating experience will not be considered.

This is a Contract to Hire opportunity with a stable manufacturing operation in Burlington, NC. The position offers an experienced powder coating professional the opportunity to take ownership of an important production department while remaining actively involved in day to day coating operations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable being accountable for both their own production work and the overall organization, quality, and efficiency of the powder coating line.
