About us Up&Up owns and manages single-family rental homes across St. Louis, Kansas City, Atlanta, and Indianapolis. Every time a resident moves out, we have a few days to make the home ready for the next family. Paint is the biggest part of that work, and we want it done to a higher standard than anyone else in the market. The role We're hiring one master painter to own paint quality in St. Louis and build the crew that delivers it. You'll have your hands on a brush every week — but this is a crew job. You'll run a team of helpers: assign the day's work, show them how, check what they did, and send it back when it isn't right. You'll have two or three homes going at once. What you'll do Run the crew day to day. Plan the week across two or three homes Train. Most helpers start green. Teach prep, cut lines, sheen, and product — and sign off when someone's ready to move up a level. Set the standard in writing. Prep, products, sheen by surface, cut lines, and what a passing QC walk looks like, so it survives past any one person. Paint the hard parts yourself — cabinets, spray, trim, repairs, anything a helper isn't ready for. Scope paint work at move-out walks , estimate hours and materials, and flag drywall or repairs that must happen first. Keep the crew supplied. Order materials and keep the vehicle and tools organized so no job waits on paint. Log jobs, photos, and hours for the whole crew in our inspection app What we're looking for You've run a crew. At least 3 years assigning daily work to 2 or more painters or helpers, checking their work, and correcting it You can teach someone green. Most of our helpers will be new to the trade. You can explain why you do something, not just do it. 5+ years of professional painting overall. Clean, fast work you're proud of. Bring photos or addresses of jobs we can go look at. Lead-safe (EPA RRP) certification, or willing to get it within 60 days. Many of our homes were built before 1978. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Able to lift 50 lbs, work on ladders up to 28 ft, and work a 5-day week. Spray experience is a plus. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
