Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laser Assistant/Grinder to join our manufacturing team on the 2nd shift. In this role, you will support the laser cutting and grinding processes, ensuring precision and quality in every part produced. You will operate advanced machinery, interpret technical drawings, and assist with fabrication tasks to meet production goals efficiently. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment dedicated to excellence and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Set up and operate laser cutting and grinding machines, ensuring proper calibration and safety standards are maintained throughout production. Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and production documents to accurately execute machining tasks. Program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to produce precise components. Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications. Troubleshoot industrial equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime, including laser systems, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, press brake machines, stamping presses, and fabrication tools. Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety standards in manufacturing environments. Assist with materials handling, packaging finished products, and supporting assembly line operations as needed. Skills Proficiency in CNC programming, CAM programming, and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks for design interpretation. Experience operating laser cutters, grinders, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, press brake machines, stamping presses, and other industrial equipment. Strong blueprint reading skills combined with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and manufacturing documentation accurately. Knowledge of shop math, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), precision measurement techniques, and the use of measurement tools like micrometers and calipers. Familiarity with Fanuc controls and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for machine automation troubleshooting. Ability to operate forklifts safely for materials handling within the manufacturing facility. Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication processes, assembly techniques, and factory safety standards. Excellent problem-solving skills with experience troubleshooting industrial machinery issues efficiently. Prior factory or manufacturing facility experience is preferred; familiarity with packaging and assembly line operations is a plus.
