The primary responsibility of the Powder Coater is to apply a high-quality finish that exceeds customer specifications. This role involves the preparation and use of powder coating equipment, inspection of work areas, and maintaining proper procedures for powder application. The Powder Coater must ensure all tasks are completed with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.Key Responsibilities:
1.Powder Application and Quality Finish Setup and Cleaning:
Set up powder application equipment, ensuring that guns, hoppers, cables, and all hoses are functioning correctly. Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of equipment.Booth Inspection:
Inspect the booth and filters daily to ensure the area is clean and functioning properly for powder application. This includes checking for proper airflow, filter condition, and cleanliness in and around the booth area.Powder Coating:
Apply powder coating to products according to customer specifications, ensuring consistency and quality in every application.Booth Inspection Tools:
Use provided lighting and uncured powder gauges to inspect parts inside the booth to ensure proper coverage and quality before curing.Technical Data Sheets:
Read and follow all technical data sheets (TDS) for the powders being used, ensuring proper application techniques and curing temperatures. 2.Powder Room Upkeep Organization:
Keep the powder room organized and clean, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.Powder Storage:
Store all powders properly to prevent contamination or mixing, and ensure powders are kept in appropriate conditions.Powder Levels:
Monitor powder levels in the powder room, informing the supervisor when inventory is low and needs to be reordered. 3.Steelhead Operation and Use Tablet Use:
Use the iPads to electronically transfer parts into your area, for labor tracking and production managementMaterial Tracking:
Record powder used on the iPads to maintain accurate inventory and costing 4.Communication and Feedback Feedback Interpretation:
Act on feedback from other departments, making necessary adjustments to improve the quality of powder coating or production processes. Collaboration withOther Departments:
Communicate effectively with the Washing and Hanging teams regarding changes to the hanging process that could improve the efficiency or ease of powder coating application.Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in powder coating or a similar industry, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment. Willingness to learn and operate a forklift. Strong attention to detail to ensure consistency and quality in finished products. Strong communication skills, able to work well with team members and supervisors across departments.
