Job Description

Healing Air, Inc. is seeking a dependable and professional part-time Furniture Assembly and Delivery Technician who will also serve as a backup Durable Medical Equipment (DME) driver. The primary responsibilities include assembling, loading, delivering, unloading, and setting up furniture for our Transportation Assistance Services program. This employee will also assist with DME deliveries and pickups when the primary DME driver is unavailable or additional help is needed. This is a physically active position that requires driving a company vehicle, working independently, interacting professionally with customers and patients, and maintaining accurate delivery documentation. Some assignments may require driving three to four hours outside the Houston area. Occasional evening, weekend, and on-call availability is required. Responsibilities Assemble furniture according to manufacturer instructions. Load, secure, transport, unload, and place furniture at customer locations. Inspect furniture and equipment for damage, missing parts, or other problems. Protect customers' floors, walls, doors, and property during deliveries and setup. Remove boxes and packaging materials when required. Deliver, exchange, and pick up durable medical equipment and supplies as needed. Assist with basic DME setup and provide instructions within the employee's training and job responsibilities. Complete delivery tickets, pickup forms, equipment records, and customer signatures. Communicate professionally with customers, patients, caregivers, healthcare facilities, and office staff. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA and company privacy requirements. Follow company safety, infection-control, and equipment-handling procedures. Keep the company vehicle clean, organized, fueled, and ready for deliveries. Complete required vehicle inspections and promptly report vehicle damage or mechanical problems. Follow assigned delivery routes and communicate delays or delivery problems to the office. Travel outside the Houston area when required, including trips involving three to four hours of driving. Provide occasional evening, weekend, and on-call coverage. Assist with warehouse organization, equipment preparation, and other duties as assigned. Driving Requirements Must have a valid Texas driver's license. Must have a good driving record. Must be insurable under the company's commercial automobile insurance policy. Must successfully pass a motor vehicle record check before employment. Must immediately report any accident, traffic citation, license suspension, or other change that may affect driving eligibility. Must be comfortable driving a cargo van locally and on extended out-of-town trips. Must follow all traffic laws and company vehicle-safety policies. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Delivery, furniture assembly, moving, warehouse, cargo-van, or DME experience is preferred. Experience using basic hand tools and power tools is preferred. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work with limited supervision. Must be able to read and follow furniture assembly instructions. Must have strong customer-service and communication skills. Must be able to use a smartphone for calls, text messages, GPS navigation, photographs, and electronic documentation. Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends and participate in on-call coverage. Must be willing and able to travel outside the Houston area. Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus. Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of applicable background, driving-record, and pre-employment screening requirements. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently. Must be able to safely move heavier furniture and medical equipment with assistance or appropriate moving equipment. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and climb in and out of a delivery vehicle. Must be able to perform physical work for extended periods. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Schedule This is a part-time position averaging approximately 25-30 hours per week. Work hours may vary depending on delivery volume and business needs. The employee must have reasonable flexibility for: Weekday deliveries Occasional early-morning or evening assignments Occasional weekend work On-call assignments Out-of-town deliveries Schedule changes based on customer and patient needs Full-time hours are not guaranteed. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and comfortable performing both furniture assembly and delivery work. The employee must understand that they may enter customers' homes and healthcare facilities and must maintain a professional appearance, respectful attitude, and excellent customer service at all times.
