Job Description

Devlieg Boring Mill Operator Key Responsibilities:
Setup & Operation:
Independently set up and operate Devlieg boring mills to mill, bore, drill, and ream large workpieces.
Precision Machining:
Perform boring, milling, drilling, tapping, and counter-sinking, ensuring parts meet precise blueprint specifications and tolerances.
Technical Interpretation:
Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine setup requirements, machining sequences, and tooling.
Tooling Selection:
Select, align, and secure cutting tools, boring bars, and holding fixtures.
Quality Inspection:
Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators) to inspect parts in-process and upon completion.
Maintenance:
Perform routine machine maintenance, such as cleaning, lubricating, and troubleshooting, to ensure optimal performance.
Safety Adherence:
Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with all safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Experience:
3-5+ years of experience operating Devlieg horizontal boring mills in a heavy manufacturing or job shop environment.
Technical Skills:
Strong manual machining experience, with proficiency in setting up parts with angled surfaces.
Blueprint Reading:
Advanced ability to read engineering drawings and understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Math Skills:
Solid understanding of shop math, including geometry and trigonometry for calculating dimensions.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs and stand for long periods.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED; vocational or technical training is a plus.
