Job Summary The Hand Finisher / Deburr Technician is responsible for removing burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections from machined or fabricated parts. This role ensures that all components meet quality and cosmetic standards before final inspection, assembly, or shipment. The position requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to safety and precision. Duties and Responsibilities Finishing and Deburring Perform manual deburring, polishing, and blending operations on machined parts using hand tools (files, scrapers, deburring knives, sandpaper, rotary tools, etc.). Smooth and finish edges, holes, and surfaces according to part drawings, specifications, and work instructions. Inspect parts visually and with measuring tools to ensure burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections are removed. Maintain part geometry and surface integrity during finishing operations. Quality and Inspection Verify part quality using gauges, micrometers, calipers, and visual inspection standards. Identify and report defects or nonconforming conditions to the supervisor or quality department. Follow established work instructions and inspection procedures to ensure compliance with customer and internal standards. Tool and Equipment Maintenance Maintain hand tools and finishing equipment in good working condition. Keep work area organized, clean, and free from hazards. Properly label and store tools, abrasives, and finishing materials. Process Support and Documentation Record part counts, work times, and process information accurately on job travelers or in MES systems. Communicate effectively with machinists, inspectors, and supervisors regarding part quality and finishing requirements. Follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping guidelines.
