Under general direction from supervisor, leads employees engaged in the maintenance, repair, and installation of door hardware, keys, and locks. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. 1. Assists supervisor in developing work schedules, conducting performance reviews, and interviewing job applicants. 2. Provides technical direction to locksmiths and locksmith helpers. 3. Performs the duties of a locksmith as needed. 4. Assist supervisor in overall supervision of the shop and acts as supervisor during absence. 5. Operates all necessary equipment and tools such as: key cutting machine, engraving machine and power tools and computer. 6. Fabricates parts that are not available for locks, door closures and other hardware, as needed. 7. May serve on special task force during periods of emergency, such as floods, storms, hurricanes, etc. 8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. High School Diploma or GED Required Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.
MQ:
Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Education verification will be conducted upon acceptance of an employment offer. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Requires a valid Texas Driver's License. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
