$30.00 - $35.00 per hour Build Components That Matter We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join a leading defense manufacturing and precision machining organization in Thomaston, CT. In this role, you will work with advanced multi-axis CNC equipment to produce high-precision components used in critical defense applications. What You'll Do Set up and operate multi-axis CNC lathes, VTLs (Vertical Turret Lathes), and 5-axis mill-turn machines Machine precision components including shafts, housings, and assemblies Optimize existing CNC programs to improve efficiency, tool life, and product quality Install and adjust tooling, workholding, fixtures, and offsets Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications Perform in-process and final inspections using micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, touch probes, and other measurement equipment Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain tight tolerances Document setups, inspections, tool changes, and production data Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing issues Assist with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting activities Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment Hands-on experience operating multi-axis CNC machines, including VTLs and/or 5-axis mill-turn equipment Experience machining steel, cast iron, stainless steel, Inconel, and other heat-resistant alloys Strong understanding of GD&T and tight-tolerance machining Experience using precision inspection and measurement equipment Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturing documentation Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred Experience with FANUC, Siemens, or Okuma (OSP) controls Formal machining training, apprenticeship, or technical certification Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments Familiarity with
