Job Description

We are hiring experienced CNC Mill Setup Machinists who can independently set up and run precision parts from print through first-piece approval. This is not an operator-level role. FK Instrument is a Clearwater-based precision machine shop specializing in complex, tight-tolerance CNC machining. We are a stable, rapidly growing company looking for strong setup talent and people who want to grow with us. What you will do Set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills Perform full machine setups using setup sheets and process documentation Select tooling, set offsets, and establish proven production runs Prove out programs and make adjustments to achieve first-article approval Inspect first article and perform in-process inspection using precision tools Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T requirements Organize upcoming jobs during machine cycles to reduce downtime Set up additional machines as time allows Record setup and run data in ERP system Maintain machines (coolant, oil, basic upkeep) and keep a clean work area Support continuous improvement in setup time and process efficiency What we are looking for 5+ years of CNC machining experience, including independent mill setup experience Ability to independently set up CNC jobs from print to production Strong blueprint reading and mechanical aptitude Experience with precision measuring tools (micrometers, indicators, etc.) Solid math skills Mastercam experience preferred
