CNC Machinist Job Description This role is ideal for a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machine Operator / Machinist who enjoys hands-on work in a modern manufacturing environment. You will set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines, lathes, and mills to produce high-quality components while meeting strict production, quality, and safety standards. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to precision and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC machines, lathes, mills, and related manufacturing equipment to produce precision components. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine machining requirements. Monitor machine performance during production runs and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency. Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot basic equipment issues to minimize downtime. Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in accordance with company safety policies and manufacturing procedures. Accurately complete production, inspection, and quality documentation for each job and work order. Collaborate with supervisors and team members to improve production efficiency, workflow, and process reliability. Apply basic math skills, including addition and subtraction, to verify dimensions, tolerances, and machining calculations. Follow all established safety guidelines, use required personal protective equipment, and report any unsafe conditions or equipment issues. Lift and handle materials and parts up to 50 pounds as needed to support machining operations. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing and machine operation experience, including CNC machining. 35 years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines, lathes, and mills. Strong mechanical aptitude with proven problem-solving skills in a production environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications. Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges for inspection. Ability to perform basic math functions, including addition and subtraction, to support machining and quality checks. Demonstrated ability to set up CNC machines, run lathes and mills, and perform part inspection. Capability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience operating and setting up CNC machines and lathes in a production environment. CNC programming knowledge and experience are a plus. Manufacturing, machining, or technical certification is preferred. Familiarity with production and manufacturing processes and workflows. Work Environment The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility designed for comfort and productivity. Required personal protective equipment includes gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe safety shoes. This position is assigned to the first shift, working Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Other shifts exist within the facility, but this role is specifically for the first shift. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
