Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various machining equipment to produce precision metal components. This role requires a strong understanding of CNC machining, manual machining techniques, and blueprint interpretation to ensure parts meet strict quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive mechanical knowledge, proficiency with measurement tools, and experience with advanced programming and tooling to support efficient production processes. Duties Set up and operate CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines, ensuring precise execution of manufacturing specifications. Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to accurately produce parts. Program CNC equipment using G-code, M-code, Mazatrol, and CAM programming software to optimize machining operations. Perform machine calibration, tooling setup, and adjustments to maintain high-quality output. Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other measurement instruments for quality control. Execute manual machining tasks with hand tools and grinders when necessary to achieve desired specifications. Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols. Collaborate with engineering teams on tooling design and process improvements utilizing SolidWorks and CAD software. Inspect finished parts for defects or deviations from specifications through CNC quality inspection procedures. Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying opportunities for process efficiencies. Skills Proficiency in CNC programming languages including G-code, M-code, and Mazatrol controls. Experience with CNC lathe and milling machine operations in metal machining environments. Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and mechanical blueprint interpretation. Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks and general CAD tools. Skilled in the use of machining tools including grinders, bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments. Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in manual machining techniques. Ability to perform machine setup accurately and efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Understanding of manufacturing processes including tooling selection, assembly, and lean manufacturing principles. Basic math skills essential for measurement calculations and process adjustments. Experience with CNC G-code programming for complex part production. Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus. Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately for production purposes. Familiarity with measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and bore gauges for quality control inspections.
