CNC Machinist The Fountain Group Grass Lake, MI The Fountain Group has an immediate opening for a CNC Machinist to join a prominent client of ours in Grass Lake, MI. The primary role of the CNC Machinist is setting up, operating, and monitoring vertical and horizontal 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills while calculating and adjusting machining parameters such as speed, feed, depth, and angle of cut to ensure efficient and accurate production. This CNC Machinist will also be responsible for real time troubleshooting of equipment.

Responsibilities:

• 6•month assignment, possibility for conversion or extension based on performance and budget.

• Hiring on both shifts listed below:
• 1st Shift (6:00 AM
• 2:30 PM. Hours vary; high department workload means heavy mandatory overtime currently.)
• Will be running Mitsu, and Okuma and YCM
• 2nd Shift (2:30 PM
• 12:30 AM or 3:30 PM
• 1:30 AM, Monday
• Saturday. Hours may vary; Sundays as needed.)
• Will be running Nidec, YCM, Mechoff, DMG Mori
• Position will be mainly responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring vertical and horizontal 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills while calculating and adjusting machining parameters such as speed, feed, depth, and angle of cut to ensure efficient and accurate production.
• Position will also be responsible for selecting, aligning, and securing work-holding fixtures, angle plates, vises, and other tooling, as well as generating 2D milling tool paths and verifying finished components meet engineering and quality specifications.
• Position will also be responsible for completing inspection records and production documentation accurately while collaborating with incoming and outgoing shifts to communicate production status and maintain operational continuity.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required is Required!
• Prior CNC machining experience Required!
• Associate degree in manufacturing technology or engineering is Preferred!
• Minimum of 4 years' experience working within a large automotive tooling background is Preferred!
• Certified Journeyman CNC Machinist OR minimum of 5 years of experience in the trade is Preferred!
• Ability to operate 3 and 5-axis vertical and horizontal milling equipment, with a mandatory background in large mill operations is Preferred!
• Strong ability to interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions is Preferred!
• Knowledge of G-codes, ability to program at the controller, and experience with Fanuc or Heidenheim controllers is Preferred!
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, CAD/CAM files, and using ERP systems is Preferred!
