Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead CNC Machinist specializing in Lathe operations to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the setup, programming, and operation of CNC lathes to produce precision metal components. Your expertise will ensure high-quality output, efficient workflows, and adherence to safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity for experienced machinists eager to lead by example and drive manufacturing excellence through innovative machining techniques and meticulous quality control. Duties Lead and support a team of CNC machinists by delegating work and providing guidance Train and coach new hires on company policies, procedures, and machining practices Lead the setup, Operation and calibration of CNC lathe machines, ensuring optimal performance and precision. Run the first piece. Develop, modify, and troubleshoot CNC G-code programs for lathe operations using CAM programming software. Inspect parts to ensure conformance to specifications and make necessary machine adjustments Troubleshoot programming, machine operation, and manufacturing issues Promote and maintain a safe work environment Monitor labor entries and productivity Read and interpret blueprints, job packets, and work orders Organize tooling and materials during machine cycles to reduce setup and cycle time Identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining quality Serve as a technical resource for machining operations Communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, and other departments Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with a focus on lathe operations; leadership or supervisory experience is highly desirable. Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with CNC lathe machines is a plus. 7+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC machining centers (3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis, and horizontal) Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machining issues promptly. Must speak English. Compensation based on Experience.
