GED Numeracy Machining Full Job Description SUMMARY:
This CNC Machinist
  • Class A position is responsible for setting up and operating 2 to 4, multi-axis CNC lathes with tight tolerances.
Under the direction of the shop manager, the machinist should be able to set up their machine with little to no intervention and execute the provided programs in a timely manner. Experience with Swiss-type lathes is a bonus, but not a requirement. The ideal candidate would be a team player who is willing to help their teammates and increase talent on the shop floor. This applicant would have the opportunity to fast track into a lead person or supervisor position within 6-12 months of demonstrating their knowledge and ability to lead and teach others. This position is for 1st shift. We work a 9/80 schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Set-up and run 2-4 multi-axis CNC lathes.
  • Must be able to inspect own work and make any off-set chances as required to ensure an acceptable first piece.
  • Must be able to use standard inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and gages.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
  • Must be able to change any tools required during a production run.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 5-10 years' experience setting up and operating multi-axis CNC lathes is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be very detailed oriented, organized, have good communication skills and be a team player.
  • Must be able to carefully perform each job.
  • Must be able to work quickly and make machine offsets as required.
  • Must have good shop math skills.
  • Must be decisive and a good troubleshooter.
