CNC Lathe Machinist Job Description This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC lathes to machine steel components used in construction equipment. You will work from blueprints and CNC programs, perform precision measurements, and ensure parts meet strict quality standards while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized machine shop. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine steel parts for construction equipment. Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements. Perform CNC setups, including tooling changes, changeovers, and machine adjustments. Read G and M codes and make program edits as needed to achieve correct dimensions and finishes. Inspect and measure parts per blueprint specifications using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and dial bore gauges. Apply shop math, including algebra and trigonometry, to solve machining and setup problems. Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move large steel components and tooling safely. Follow workplace and trade safety laws, regulations, and standards at all times. Collaborate with leads and teammates to ensure production goals and quality standards are consistently met. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience setting up and operating CNC lathes. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Hands-on experience inspecting own parts using micrometers, calipers, and dial bore gauges. Proficiency in reading G and M codes, including understanding the difference between G00 (rapid) and G01 (feed rate). Experience editing CNC programs to correct or optimize machining operations. Capability to perform tooling changes and changeovers on CNC machinery. Solid understanding of shop math, including algebra and trigonometry, for machining applications. Ability to program and adjust CNC machines, preferably with Fanuc controls. Ownership of personal precision tools, including micrometers and dial calipers. Commitment to following safety regulations and best practices in a machine shop environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes in a manufacturing or machine shop setting. Experience working with CNC machinery in a production environment. Familiarity with grinding processes as part of machining operations. Comfort working with large steel components used in construction and heavy equipment. Attention to detail and pride in workmanship, with a focus on producing high-quality parts. Ability to work effectively on a 2nd shift schedule. Strong teamwork and communication skills within a multi-machinist shop. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Walton Hills, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52000.00
- $66560.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
