ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY A
well-established Oil & Gas Manufacturer in Rosenberg, TX is seeking a Machinist Lead — a working-lead role responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations in the machine shop and ensuring high-quality parts are produced to print specifications and on schedule. This position blends hands-on machining, technical troubleshooting, and team leadership. Reporting to the Production Supervisor and directly supervising a small team of CNC and Manual Machinists, the Machinist Lead mentors machinists at all levels and upholds the shop's safety and quality standards.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead and coordinate daily machining activities to meet production goals and deadlines Assign tasks and provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and guidance to machinists Set up and operate manual and CNC machines to print specifications Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and production documentation Program or edit CNC (G-code) programs as needed for production runs Verify part dimensions with precision measuring instruments and perform standard shop calculations for dimensions, tooling, and tolerances Identify and troubleshoot production or quality issues to ensure part compliance Enforce and model proper safety practices and PPE use, and deliver safety, induction, and tool/equipment training Communicate across the team, other departments, and management while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment

WHAT YOU BRING
Must have at least 7 + years of hands-on machining experience (CNC and manual) AND 2+ years' experience leading or mentoring a team of machinists Proficiency operating lathes, mills, and other shop machinery Skilled reading blueprints and GD&T and using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) Ability to edit and troubleshoot G-code CNC programs Strong understanding of machining practices — materials, feeds, speeds, and tooling Knowledge of shop safety regulations and best practices Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork, with the ability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or an accredited machinist training program preferred Forklift certification a plus (or willingness to obtain); must provide or be willing to acquire standard personal machinist tools
