Position Summary The EBM Mechanic is responsible for the safe setup, startup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and processing support of Bekum extrusion blow molding equipment. The position supports production by completing accurate changeovers, maintaining stable processes, correcting equipment and quality issues, and minimizing downtime and scrap. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform mold removals, installations, alignments, and complete changeovers on Bekum machines.
• Set up and start production jobs according to approved schedules, setup sheets, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Set and adjust extrusion temperatures, die gaps, parison programming, blow settings, cooling, and related process parameters within approved limits.
• Monitor parison drop, swing, centering, length, and material distribution; correct instability before it creates thin walls, holes, leaks, or dimensional defects.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble extrusion head components, including tooling, rings, bushings, rods, and related parts.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, cooling, extrusion, and process-related problems.
• Inspect molds, tooling, hoses, fittings, heaters, thermocouples, safety devices, and auxiliary equipment for wear or damage.
• Perform assigned preventive maintenance, lubrication, cleaning, inspections, and minor repairs.
• Verify startup samples and ongoing production against bottle specifications, approved samples, and Quality requirements.
• Assist operators and Quality personnel with recurring defects, machine adjustments, and process-related concerns.
• Document machine settings, setup information, troubleshooting steps, corrective actions, and unresolved issues.
• Support scrap reduction, cycle improvement, repeatability, and continuous improvement activities. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Hands-on experience with Bekum or comparable extrusion blow molding equipment is preferred.
• Working knowledge of extrusion blow molding molds, heads, parison control, cooling, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems.
• Ability to recognize and correct wall-distribution, flash, finish, leak, surface, dimensional, and process-stability concerns.
• Ability to use hand tools, measuring devices, setup sheets, bottle specifications, and production documentation.
• Ability to troubleshoot systematically, communicate clearly, and work independently while supporting the production team.
• Understanding of HDPE, LDPE, PP, PCR, color concentrates, and their effect on processing is preferred. Safety and Work Practices
• Follow all company safety rules, PPE requirements, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Use proper lifting, rigging, mold-handling, and machine-guarding practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and promptly report unsafe conditions.
• Communicate machine status, unresolved problems, and corrective actions during shift handoffs. Physical and Work Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to bend, reach, climb, push, pull, and work around operating machinery.
• Ability to lift and move tools, machine parts, and materials using proper assistance when required.
• Ability to work in areas with production noise, heat, moving equipment, and exposure to processing materials.
• Availability to work assigned shifts, overtime, and urgent equipment support as business needs require.
