Job Summary Vertical Earth is seeking an experienced Concrete Curb Machine Operator to safely and efficiently operate slipform curb machines for roadway, site development, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience reading grade stakes, setting pins and stringline, establishing machine offsets, setting up molds and sensors, and independently preparing the machine for production. Essential Functions Read plans, profiles, grade stakes, and project specifications to determine curb alignment, width, elevations, and offsets. Set grade pins and establish stringline for proper machine guidance and alignment. Calculate and set machine offsets from curb line and grade. Set up, level, and calibrate curb machine prior to production. Select, install, and adjust curb molds, sensors, and vibrators. Safely operate curb machine to place concrete curb and gutter in accordance with project specifications. Monitor concrete consistency and slump to ensure quality finished product. Coordinate with survey crews, laborers, finishers, and concrete suppliers to maintain production. Cut control joints at specified intervals and ensure proper finishing of completed curb. Inspect finished work to verify alignment, grade, and quality standards. Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on the curb machine. Safely operate company vehicles and equipment as required. Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all company safety policies. Work overtime, night shifts, weekends, and travel as project needs require. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a concrete curb machine. Ability to read and interpret roadway plans, blueprints, grade stakes, and specifications. Proven experience setting grade pins and stringline for curb machine operations. Experience establishing machine offsets and aligning curb machines to line and grade. Ability to independently set up, level, and prepare a curb machine for production. Knowledge of curb machine sensors, vibrators, molds, and guidance systems. Understanding of concrete placement, finishing, and slump control. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Gomaco, Power Curbers, Miller Formless, or similar curb machines. Experience on DOT roadway and heavy civil construction projects. Knowledge of GPS machine control systems. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Knowledge Of Reading grade stakes and construction plans. Setting grade pins and stringline. Curb machine setup and calibration. Machine offsets and line-and-grade control. Vibrator placement and adjustment. Sensor placement and operation. Mold installation and adjustment. Concrete slump control and placement techniques. Preventative maintenance and equipment troubleshooting. Ability To Independently establish line and grade for curb installation. Anticipate project needs and prepare materials, equipment, and tools in advance. Work efficiently with minimal supervision. Communicate effectively with foremen, survey crews, and superintendents. Produce high-quality curb that meets project specifications and tolerances.
