Description
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for operating the filler/seamer. This machine fills empty cans with tomato product and places the end on the can. The operator is responsible for all quality attributes of this process. Due to the dynamic nature of our business, duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate the filler / seamer at maximum efficiency
Understand greasing of the machine
Communicate effectively with the Quality Assurance technician assigned to the line
Record all downtime on report
Verify correct temperature on filler bowl Taylor chart each hour
Record shift efficiency on the production board
Calculate hourly efficiency and record on report
Inspect a sample can for defects each hour as well verify correct can code
Transfer end tickets to the utility or general labor so they can take to the Depalletizer operator
Be able to startup and shutdown / clean the filler / seamer
Keep area neat and clean
Inspect all lids before placing them in the magazine and report the number of dirty or damaged ends to your supervisor
Adhere to all Red Gold policies, rules and regulations, including GMP's and safety
Work as a team player with members of the crew and others in the plant
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, General Educational Development Diploma (GED) or equivalent experience
Must be able to understand and carry out instructions while performing manual labor related tasks
Must be able to successfully use basic math and writing skills necessary to complete the required paperwork

- to complete most all tasks

Climbing - to get to parts department, when using ladder, on equipment
Reaching - to perform activities, to get tools out of toolbox

Crawling - to perform work activities under equipment

Bending/stooping - to pick up tools or parts, to perform work tasks at lower levels or inside a machine
Twisting - to perform work activities
Grasping/handling - using tools, manipulating parts
Lifting reams of lids from pallet, 14 pounds
Carrying reams of lids to seamer, 14 pounds
Pulling trash to dumpster, minimal force required to pushcart
Lift trash can to put trash into dumpster, minimal force required to pushcart
Pushing cart to baler, minimal force required to push bin
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
Must be able to operate basic electrical switches
Must be able to occasionally handle wood pallets and end sleeves (up to 80 pounds)
Must be able to place lids into the magazine fast enough to avoid running out and shutting down the line
Able to work a flexible work schedule
