Job Title:
Saw Operator Job Description The Saw Operator sets up and operates saws and related fabrication equipment to cut materials to specification while supporting welders with material preparation and adjustments before and after welding. This role involves frequent lifting of 40-50 lbs and the ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs, working in a busy fabrication environment where attention to detail, accuracy, and safety are essential. Responsibilities Set up, operate, and monitor saws and related cutting equipment to cut materials according to specified measurements and fabrication requirements. Assist welders by gathering materials, organizing workpieces, and preparing components prior to welding. Support post-weld processes by helping make adjustments, handling materials, and ensuring parts meet required specifications. Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to ensure precise cuts and material preparation. Lift and move materials weighing 40-50 lbs on a regular basis and safely lift up to 75 lbs as needed. Think quickly and make sound decisions when faced with unexpected issues or changes in work requirements. Perform basic problem solving to address minor equipment, measurement, or material issues during the cutting and fabrication process. Work closely with 2-3 team members in a busy fabrication area, maintaining clear communication and coordination. Follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working in a loud, active production environment. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient operations and reduce safety risks. Essential Skills Proficiency in operating saws and related cutting equipment safely and effectively. Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 75 lbs as required by daily tasks. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for precise cutting and material preparation. Capacity to think on their feet and respond quickly to changing work demands. Basic problem-solving skills to handle routine operational and material issues. Comfort working in a loud, fast-paced production environment with multiple activities occurring simultaneously. Why Work Here? Saw operators work closely with 2-3 other individuals in a busy production area that requires awareness of surroundings and adherence to safety practices. Appropriate work attire includes clothing suitable for an industrial setting, along with any required personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and sturdy footwear. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
