00 Position Overview The Packaging Technician is responsible for the accurate, efficient, and compliant packaging of all finished cannabis products, including but not limited to bulk flower, pre-rolls, vape cartridges, and concentrates. This role executes packaging activities according to approved SOPs, batch records, and production schedules while maintaining strict adherence to NYS Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) regulations, cGMP, safety, and quality requirements. Key Responsibilities Package cannabis flower, pre-rolls, vapes, and other finished goods according to approved SOPs, Master Batch Records (MBRs)/Batch Production Records (BPRs), and daily production schedules. Accurately weigh, fill, seal, and label units using manual and automated equipment while maintaining target yield, count, and presentation standards. Perform pre
  • and in-process checks (weights, counts, label verification, package integrity) and promptly report or escalate any deviations or nonconformances.
Verify that all labels, barcodes, and variable data (batch, lot, potency, dates, warnings) match approved artwork and regulatory requirements prior to application. Complete all required batch documentation, log sheets, and packaging records legibly and in real time to support METRC seed-to-sale inventory accuracy. Maintain clean, organized, compliant workstations, including routine sanitation of tools, equipment, and packaging areas per cGMP and facility SOPs. Handle cannabis and components to minimize product loss, mix-ups, mislabeling, and damage, and support reconciliation of bulk and finished goods counts. Support line changeovers, including component verification, line clearance, and documentation to prevent cross-contamination or label mix-ups. Follow all safety, security, and access control procedures, including PPE use, controlled substance handling, and incident reporting. Assist with material handling related to packaging (moving WIP to and from vault or warehouse, staging components, preparing finished cases for distribution). Participate in training, process improvements, CAPA implementation, and other continuous improvement activities as directed by Packaging or Production leadership. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. 1+ year experience in manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or similar high-throughput environment; regulated, food, pharma, or cannabis experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to perform precise weighing, counting, and documentation work with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to follow written SOPs, work instructions, and production schedules, and to complete batch and packaging records legibly and consistently. Basic computer skills and comfort working with inventory or seed-to-sale systems (e.g., METRC, BioTrack, or similar). Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move up to 30-50 lbs, with repetitive hand and wrist motion typical of packaging and pre-roll tasks. Core Competencies Quality focus : Consistently meets product and documentation standards; proactively identifies defects or errors. Compliance mindset : Understands that cannabis is a highly regulated product and follows all applicable rules, policies, and SOPs.
