Extruder Operator

Job Description

Job Summary The Extruder Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring extrusion equipment to produce plastic products that meet quality and production standards. This role requires flexibility to train on the day shift and transition to third shift upon completion of training. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate extrusion machines according to production schedules and work instructions. Monitor temperatures, pressures, speeds, and material flow to maintain proper extrusion quality. Load raw materials and additives into hoppers and ensure correct material blends are used. Perform routine quality checks, including measurements and visual inspections, to ensure product specifications are met. Make machine adjustments as needed to correct defects and maintain consistent output. Troubleshoot basic mechanical or process issues and report major problems to maintenance or supervision. Complete required production and quality documentation, including scrap and downtime reports. Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S and safety standards. Follow all safety policies, including PPE and lockout/tagout procedures. Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily production goals. Training & Schedule Requirements Employees will be trained on the day shift for up to three (3) months . Upon successful completion of training, employees must be able to transition to third shift , working 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM . Willingness to work overtime as needed. Qualifications Previous extrusion or manufacturing experience preferred (plastics experience a plus). Ability to read work instructions, production schedules, and basic measurements. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift materials, and perform repetitive tasks. Work Environment Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, machinery, noise, and industrial equipment. Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

From $18.00 per hour
