Job Description
Summary/Objective The molding technician's job possesses a need for paying strict attention to detail and clear understanding of the molding processes. The molding technician will be responsible for many different functions including performing mold changes, filling out process sheets, filling out mold change check sheets, making process adjustments to fix scrap issues, and assisting other molding employees as needed. Essential Functions Understand the production schedule. Understand the process sheets (master & recordable) in process book. Filling out process sheets. Recording out of tolerance conditions in the change log. Understand the material system and how to operate. Understand how to hook up the material lines at the press, as well as the hook up at the hopper. Complete mold changes (following work instructions). Able to hook up water lines, hot runner cables, valve gate air lines correctly. Change the robot EOAT and load program from the robot controller. Start the press up to run production. Verify parts coming out of the press are acceptable quality (no cosmetic or robotic issues). Fill out mold change check sheet paperwork. Clean production molds that are running (use only polish in black bottle or the no rust spray). Entry level techs are not to use diamond polish, hexane, or make any process changes without help from molding technicians or engineering. Work with entry level molding technicians to train. Fix any process related issues that supervisors, team leaders, or engineering request to be fixed. Write tooling work orders for any molds that must go back to the tool room. Involved with engineering in problem solving and root cause analysis of problems. Organization of robot EOAT that are being used in production as well as service. Cover other technician's vacation. 5 - S the molding area (clean up any and all messes regardless of who made the mess). Any other items that the production supervisors or engineers may need help with. Competencies Ability to interact well with other Departments Must possess good interpersonal skills Excellent attendance required Must be available for weekend work when necessary Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally Must maintain a positive and supportive attitude conducive to SL's work environment Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, heat and cold temperatures, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work and depends on Production schedule and designated shift. Additional hours and shifts may be assigned if need arises.
