Job Summary:
The Smart Factory Technician supports internally developed Smart Factory applications, manufacturing software solutions, logistics and warehouse solutions, and supplier-supported systems used throughout business operations. This role works closely with Engineering, Operations, IT teams, and External Suppliers to support deployment, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of digital manufacturing applications and automation systems. The Technician serves as a frontline technical resource for end users, helping ensure manufacturing applications, connected devices, production systems, and supplier-supported technologies operate efficiently and reliably within the Smart Factory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for internally developed Smart Factory applications. Support supplier-provided systems and applications utilized within manufacturing operations, including coordination with vendors for troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, and issue resolution. Troubleshoot software, hardware, electrical, and connectivity issues impacting production operations. Support deployment, testing, configuration, and maintenance of applications and interfaces. Assist business personnel with application usage, issue resolution, and user support. Monitor application performance and escalate issues as needed to Engineering, development teams, or external suppliers. Document issues, resolutions, procedures, and system updates. Assist with system upgrades, validation testing, and rollout of new Smart Factory technologies. Work with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements and enhance application functionality. Support data collection, reporting, and real-time manufacturing visibility tools. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for system-related issues. Ensure compliance with company cybersecurity, safety, and operational standards. Travel to manufacturing sites as needed to support deployments, troubleshooting, training, and operational support. Additional responsibilities as required by Management.
Required Qualifications:
Experience supporting manufacturing systems, industrial applications, automation environments, supplier-supported systems, or technical equipment preferred. Basic understanding of manufacturing operations and industrial automation systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively with production personnel, engineers, technical teams, and external suppliers. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Willingness and ability to travel up to 25-50% as required. Additional Skills & Technical Knowledge (preferred but not required): Basic knowledge of electricity, electrical circuits, and industrial electrical systems. Ability to safely use electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and diagnostic tools. Understanding of sensors, relays, power supplies, motors, and industrial control components. Basic understanding of computer and industrial networking concepts. Familiarity with Ethernet networks, IP addressing, switches, wireless connectivity, and network troubleshooting. Experience supporting manufacturing software applications. Familiarity with PLCs. Basic scripting or software support exposure. Experience with manufacturing data systems, reporting tools, or dashboards. Knowledge of cybersecurity practices in manufacturing environments.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work around industrial machinery and in manufacturing environments.
