Job Description
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise daily print production activities, including job scheduling, prioritization, and quality control to meet client specifications and deadlines.
Operate and maintain Raster Image Processor (RIP) software and workflows to ensure accurate file preparation, color management, and output consistency.
Monitor printing equipment performance, troubleshoot common issues, and coordinate preventive maintenance or repairs with technicians and vendors.
Train and mentor press operators and production staff on best practices, RIP usage, color management, and safety procedures.
Perform prepress checks (file integrity, imposition, trapping, proofs) and collaborate with design or prepress teams to resolve file-related problems.
Manage inventory of print supplies (inks, plates, substrates) and optimize material usage to control costs and reduce waste.
Ensure compliance with company quality standards, safety policies, and environmental regulations; document production metrics and prepare reports.
Communicate with clients and account managers about job specifications, timelines, and any technical constraints; provide bilingual support when needed.
QualificationsProven experience working with Raster Image Processor (RIP) software and managing RIP workflows in a commercial print environment.
Hands-on printing experience with digital and/or offset presses and strong understanding of color management, imposition, and prepress processes.
Minimum 3 years of supervisory or lead experience in print production preferred; prior management or team lead experience is a plus.
Excellent troubleshooting skills for prepress and press-related technical issues, with the ability to prioritize and resolve problems under tight deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality printed materials.
Spanish fluency (spoken and written) is required to facilitate communication with bilingual staff and clients.
Good organizational and time-management skills, with experience tracking production metrics and inventory control.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or degree in print technology, graphic communications, or related field is a plus.
