Steel Manufacturing Full Job Description Job Title:
Peddinghaus Beamline Operator & Press Brake Operator Hours 6:00am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday Job Summary Lockport Steel is seeking a skilled Machine Operator to run and maintain heavy fabrication equipment, specifically specializing in Peddinghaus structural steel beamline machinery and CNC press brakes to process structural steel components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Peddinghaus Beamline Operations:
Setup, program, and operate Peddinghaus structural processing systems (such as high-speed drills, coping machines, and band saws) to cut, punch, and process steel beams, channels, and structural sections.
Press Brake Operations:
Set up and operate CNC press brakes to bend, form, and shape sheet and plate metal according to strict blueprint specifications and engineering drawings.
Material Handling & Quality Control:
Use overhead cranes and material handling equipment to load and unload heavy steel pieces, inspecting finished parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, and gauges).
Equipment Maintenance & Safety:
Perform routine daily maintenance and pre-shift inspections on machinery, troubleshoot operational errors, and strictly adhere to all shop safety rules, PPE guidelines, and OSHA standards.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience operating heavy steel fabrication machinery, specifically structural beamlines (Peddinghaus) and press brakes.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read and interpret complex structural shop drawings, blueprints, and welding/fabrication symbols.
Certifications:
Valid forklift operator certification and overhead crane operation experience are strongly preferred.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
Pay:
$24.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
