About Us Backdrop Builder is a custom fabrication studio specializing in high-quality mobile carts, brand activations, and custom display builds. We work with a wide range of clients—from emerging brands to large-scale activations—bringing creative concepts to life through thoughtful design and craftsmanship. Position Overview We're looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Fabricator to join our team. This role involves building custom carts and structures from start to finish, working with a variety of materials including wood, laminate, acrylic, and hardware components. You'll collaborate closely with our design and production team to execute builds that are both functional and visually exceptional. Key Responsibilities Fabricate custom carts and structures based on design drawings and renderings Work with materials such as birch wood, MDF, laminate (Formica), and acrylic Cut, assemble, sand, and finish components with precision Install hardware including casters, hinges, shelving, and specialty components Execute custom features such as cutouts (sinks, coolers, equipment integration) Assist with painting, staining, and finishing (including prep work) Ensure builds meet quality standards, timelines, and specifications Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace Qualifications 2+ years of fabrication, woodworking, or carpentry experience Strong understanding of shop tools (table saw, miter saw, routers, sanders, etc.) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Experience with custom builds or scenic fabrication is a plus Familiarity with laminates, veneers, or acrylic is a plus Detail-oriented with a strong sense of craftsmanship Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented Bonus Skills (Not Required, but a Plus) Experience with collapsible or modular builds Basic electrical knowledge (LED installs, wiring) CNC or laser cutting experience Experience in event fabrication, retail displays, or prop building Why Join Us Work on creative, high-visibility projects Collaborative and fast-paced environment Opportunity to grow with a scaling fabrication team Consistent pipeline of unique builds (no repetitive work) How to Apply Please send: A brief introduction Resume (if available) Photos of past work (if available)
