Portsmouth, VA Job Details Full-time $20 - $27 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Qualifications Teamwork Dimensional inspection Shop math Attention to detail Welding Hand tools Full Job Description Osborne Welding, Inc. is seeking a dependable Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator to join our fabrication team. This position is responsible for fitting, assembling, and preparing structural steel components according to shop drawings and project specifications. We are looking for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely, and can accurately complete fabrication work in a fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities include:
Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and fabrication details. Lay out, fit, and assemble beams, columns, angles, plates, and other structural steel components. Measure, mark, cut, drill, cope, and prepare material for fabrication. Tack weld and fit components accurately prior to final welding. Verify dimensions, squareness, alignment, and overall fit before completion. Safely operate fabrication equipment, hand tools, grinders, torches, and related shop equipment. Identify fabrication issues and communicate questions or discrepancies to supervisors. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow Osborne Welding, Inc. quality and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
Structural steel fitting/fabrication experience preferred. Ability to read and understand structural steel shop drawings. Strong measuring, layout, and basic math skills. Experience using tape measures, squares, levels, and fabrication tools. Welding and tack-welding experience preferred. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic. Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of a structural steel fabrication environment.
