Hudson Manufacturing Company is seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations across multiple shifts at our Lowell facility. This contract position is ideal for a strong manufacturing leader who is comfortable working directly on the production floor, developing frontline leadership, improving operational consistency, and driving accountability for safety, quality, staffing, productivity, and production performance. Position Summary The Production Manager provides direct leadership to Manufacturing Shift Supervisors and works closely with Process Technicians, Team Leads, Quality, Maintenance, Human Resources, and other departments to support safe and efficient production operations. This role requires a visible floor presence, strong leadership skills, and the ability to quickly identify operational barriers, coordinate resources, and keep production priorities moving across shifts. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate daily production activities across multiple shifts. Provide direct leadership, coaching, and support to Manufacturing Shift Supervisors. Ensure production schedules, priorities, and customer requirements are clearly communicated and executed. Monitor production output, labor utilization, downtime, scrap, efficiency, and other key performance measures. Coordinate staffing and labor allocation based on production requirements. Identify production barriers and work cross-functionally to minimize downtime and disruptions. Establish clear expectations and maintain accountability for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and employee performance. Maintain regular visibility on the production floor and engage with frontline employees and leadership. Partner with Human Resources regarding staffing, employee relations, performance management, training, and workforce needs. Work closely with Quality to address product quality concerns and recurring production issues. Partner with Process Technicians and Maintenance to address equipment, tooling, and process concerns. Support preventive maintenance activities while balancing production requirements. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, labor efficiency, workflow, quality, and production consistency. Support 5S, standard work, root-cause problem solving, and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Five or more years of progressive manufacturing experience. Three or more years of manufacturing leadership experience. Demonstrated experience leading supervisors or frontline manufacturing leaders. Experience managing production performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of production scheduling, staffing, labor utilization, quality, and manufacturing processes. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field. Experience in plastics manufacturing, blow molding, injection molding, or high-volume manufacturing. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, or other continuous improvement methods. Experience managing production operations across multiple shifts. Schedule Expectations This position supports a multi-shift manufacturing operation. Flexibility is required to maintain visibility across shifts and respond to significant production, staffing, safety, quality, or equipment concerns. Weekend, early morning, or after-hours availability may occasionally be required based on business needs. Work Environment This position works in both office and manufacturing environments. While on the production floor, employees may be exposed to manufacturing equipment, moving machinery, forklifts, noise, airborne particles, and varying temperatures. Required PPE must be worn in designated areas. $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
