Job Description

General Scope of Position The Production Manager is responsible for the overall coordination and performance of Kansas City production operations. The position manages production supervision and production planning support, establishes production priorities, and oversees the schedule, capacity, and lead times required to meet demand for fabricated products. This position serves as the primary production contact for Sales and Order Management and coordinates with Purchasing, Warehouse, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality to resolve constraints. The Production Manager is accountable for production results in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity while ensuring supervisors have the direction and resources needed to manage daily work within their assigned areas. Position Requirements Previous management or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required, including experience coordinating production schedules and multiple production areas. Experience using a manufacturing ERP system required; experience with Infor LN preferred. Ability to evaluate capacity, labor, equipment, material availability, and order requirements to establish realistic production priorities and delivery commitments. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to coordinate decisions across departments and communicate operational risks clearly. A degree in operations, engineering, supply chain, or a related field is preferred; relevant manufacturing leadership experience may substitute for formal education. Ability to work effectively in office and production environments and provide hands-on support as needed. Position Responsibilities Sefar employees are responsible for the quality of their work through understanding and fulfilling our customers' requirements. A. Personnel and Production Leadership Direct, support, and evaluate production supervision and planning support personnel, including work priorities, performance, training, and employee development. Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, corrective action, and employee transitions in coordination with HR and site leadership. Provide direction and support to supervisors in managing personnel, training, articles, equipment, documentation, and daily production issues. Fill operational coverage gaps when necessary. Maintain clear communication of priorities, performance, and operational changes throughout production. B. Production Scheduling and Capacity Own the production schedule, order priorities, production lead times, and departmental capacity settings based on demand and current operational capability. Evaluate available labor, equipment, material readiness, work in process, and production constraints when establishing or changing order dates and schedules. Review expedite requests, large orders, and special requirements; determine feasible timing and coordinate necessary actions with Purchasing, Warehouse, Sales, and Order Management. Direct routine order preparation and system maintenance performed by planning support personnel. Make or escalate decisions involving schedule priorities, capacity, and customer commitments. Identify routing, bill-of-material, order-data, and production-readiness issues and coordinate corrections with the departments responsible for those records. C. Order Management and Communication Serve as the primary KC production contact for order status, production capability, schedule changes, and delivery risks. Provide timely responses to Sales and Order Management by reviewing production status, material availability, capacity, and recovery options with the appropriate teams. Represent production in planning, shortage, order-status, and special-request discussions and communicate decisions and follow-up actions. D. Performance and Process Improvement Monitor results in safety, on-time delivery, productivity or efficiency, and quality; address performance gaps with supervisors and applicable support departments. Work with Engineering and Maintenance to improve production processes, equipment capability, reliability, and flow. Coordinate technical changes through the appropriate owners. Work with Quality and supervision on product concerns, containment, investigations, corrective actions, and adherence to approved requirements. Maintain accurate production-system information and use operational reports to identify bottlenecks, recurring errors, and improvement opportunities. E. Safety Ensure production employees receive applicable safety training and follow established safety practices. Support investigation and correction of unsafe conditions and incidents. F. Other Complete special assignments as required by management. Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
