A Director of Manufacturing oversees management of all areas of manufacturing to produce products and direct activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives.
The Executive Manufacturing Lead is a senior corporate leader responsible for developing and executing enterprise-wide manufacturing strategy with a focus on automation, mixed-model production systems, and design for manufacturing (DFM). This individual will lead manufacturing transformation initiatives that improve scalability, productivity, flexibility, and cost performance across multiple facilities.

The ideal candidate is a proven manufacturing executive with a demonstrated history of leading large-scale, multi-site manufacturing transformations. They possess the ability to develop high-performing organizations, drive enterprise-wide automation initiatives, implement scalable manufacturing systems, and partner cross-functionally to improve manufacturability, operational efficiency, and business performance. The successful candidate combines strategic vision with operational execution and has consistently delivered measurable cost reduction, productivity gains, and return on investment through automation, process improvement, and manufacturing innovation Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Strategy & Transformation Define and execute long-term manufacturing strategy aligned with growth, productivity, and cost objectives. Lead enterprise-wide automation initiatives, including robotics, digital manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 technologies. Drive standardization of manufacturing processes across multiple facilities to improve scalability and operational performance. Automation & Capital Deployment Identify and implement automation solutions that reduce labor costs, improve throughput, and enhance product quality. Develop and execute ROI-driven automation roadmaps with measurable financial impact. Lead capital investment planning and execution for automation and manufacturing technology programs. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction through automation and process redesign. Mixed-Model & Flexible Manufacturing Design and optimize manufacturing systems capable of supporting high product variability while maintaining efficiency. Implement flexible manufacturing systems and rapid changeover capabilities. Balance utilization, throughput, inventory, and capacity across complex product portfolios. Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Partner with Engineering, R&D, and Product Development to embed manufacturability early in the design lifecycle. Lead cross-functional reviews to reduce product cost, complexity, and manufacturability risk. Influence product design decisions that support automation readiness and scalable production. Operational Performance Establish performance metrics and accountability systems across manufacturing operations. Drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity. Leverage advanced analytics and digital manufacturing tools to improve operational visibility and decision-making. Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline (Master's preferred). 15+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience in complex, multi-site environments. Demonstrated success leading large-scale automation programs that delivered significant cost reduction. Deep expertise in mixed-model production systems and flexible manufacturing design. Strong experience partnering with product development organizations on Design for Manufacturing initiatives. Proven ability to manage large capital budgets and deliver measurable ROI. Track record of leading transformational manufacturing initiatives across multiple facilities or global operations. Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies, digital manufacturing, IoT, digital twins, or AI-enabled manufacturing systems. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent. Background in highly automated manufacturing environments such as automotive, electronics, consumer products, or medical devices. Experience supporting rapid organizational growth and manufacturing scale-up. Measurable reductions in manufacturing cost through automation and process improvements. Increased productivity, throughput, and operational efficiency. Reduced product cost through effective DFM integration. Improved flexibility and performance of mixed-model production systems. Successful deployment and adoption of enterprise-wide automation strategies.
