Production Supervisor-Assistant United Staffing Associates - 4.0 Oxnard, CA Job Details Temporary | Temp-to-hire | Full-time $18 - $21 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Food production Spanish Food processing Food processing plant experience Packing English Manufacturing facility experience Full Job Description Assistant Pack Supervisor We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Pack Supervisor to support daily operations within a fast-paced packing facility. This position will work closely with the Pack Supervisor to coordinate production activities, oversee employees, maintain quality standards, and help ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the daily coordination of packing operations and production activities. Help ensure products meet established quality, size, grade, packaging, and labeling requirements. Monitor the packing process and identify product that does not meet quality standards. Assist with employee training related to quality standards, packing procedures, safety, and production expectations. Assign employees to appropriate workstations and help maintain adequate staffing throughout the shift. Monitor packing machinery, labeling equipment, and other production systems to ensure they are operating properly. Coordinate activities involving grading, palletizing, quality control, and other areas of the packing operation. Work with Shipping, Storage, and other departments to help keep production aligned with operational needs. Review quality information and assist with making adjustments to maintain product specifications. Complete and maintain production, safety, attendance, and operational documentation. Report equipment problems, maintenance needs, or production issues to the appropriate personnel. Assist with troubleshooting equipment and coordinating maintenance or repair activities. Conduct routine inspections of work areas and equipment to promote safety, cleanliness, and efficient operations. Assist management with scheduled maintenance and repair projects during downtime periods. Participate in safety inspections, hazard identification, and incident investigations when needed. Conduct or assist with regular team meetings and employee communications. Help identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and overall department performance. Maintain a clean and sanitary production environment while following food safety requirements. Perform additional duties as needed to support the department and overall operation.
Employee Leadership & Support:
Provide day-to-day guidance to employees working throughout the packing department. Assist the Supervisor with monitoring attendance, scheduling, and staffing needs. Help ensure employees follow established work schedules and timekeeping procedures. Monitor compliance with scheduled meal and rest periods. Communicate attendance, timekeeping, or scheduling concerns to the Supervisor. Assist with employee onboarding, training, coaching, and performance discussions. Help promote a professional and productive workplace. Address employee concerns when appropriate and communicate more serious issues to management or Human Resources. Assist with maintaining appropriate employee documentation and forms. Support management with employee relations and corrective action processes when necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience in packing, food production, agricultural processing, or similar environment. At least 3 years of relevant industry experience preferred. Previous lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience strongly preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish required. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a high-volume production environment. Knowledge of citrus packing, product grading, quality control, or food production processes preferred. Comfortable using computers and electronic systems for data entry, reporting, and recordkeeping. Ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, management, and other departments. Strong attention to detail and ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Forklift certification is a plus.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a production or packing environment and be comfortable taking a leadership role on the floor. This person should be dependable, organized, safety-conscious, and able to communicate effectively with employees and management in both English and Spanish.
