Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift (Confidential Precision Manufacturing Organization)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM - 2:00 AM Position Overview A precision manufacturing organization is seeking a Production Supervisor for our 2nd shift to lead evening operations and ensure safe, efficient production. This role serves as the primary point of leadership on shift, overseeing machining activities while maintaining production schedules, quality standards, and team performance. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on machining expertise with the ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced, unionized manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Supervise and support 2nd shift machining operations, ensuring production goals are met safely and efficiently Act as the primary on-site leader during off-shift hours with responsibility for floor operations and decision-making Lead and manage a team of machinists, ensuring adherence to quality standards and production schedules Oversee setup and operation of multi-axis CNC equipment, including lathes and horizontal machining centers Troubleshoot machining issues, including program errors, offset adjustments, and equipment-related concerns Collaborate with 1st shift leadership to ensure smooth handoffs and continuity between shifts Monitor production output and address bottlenecks to maintain workflow efficiency Support and enforce safety policies and best practices across all assigned departments Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members to improve performance and capability Assist in driving continuous improvement initiatives related to machining processes and productivity Additional Oversight Provide leadership support to adjacent functions including inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), and storeroom operations (3-5 team members) Ensure these areas operate effectively with a focus on safety, accuracy, and workflow coordination Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered Minimum 3-5 years of experience in CNC machining or manufacturing leadership (5+ years preferred) Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment is a plus Strong technical knowledge of CNC machining processes, including multi-axis equipment Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and support programming or process adjustments Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and drive performance Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently with limited on-site support during off-shift hours Work Environment Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machining equipment Requires adherence to all safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Fast-paced, production-driven setting with a focus on quality and efficiency #FMD2026
Pay:
$83,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
